Regional Smallbore Championship- Diamondback 3200 March 12-13-2011

The Diamondback 3200 Smallbore Prone Championship wrapped up yesterday at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix Arizona. Virginia McLemore from Socorro, NM. led the field of twenty-six and received the Gold Regional Medallion by posting a 3197-249X. Former National Highpower Rifle Champion and current Palma Team member Nancy Tompkins of Prescott, AZ. captured the Silver medal by posting a 3196-256X. Rick Curtis of Phoenix, AZ. secured the Bronze with a 3194-253X. The High Senior award went to Lige Harris of Trinidad, CO. by virtue of a very strong 3192-234X. High Junior award went to Mesa, AZ. resident Luke Harper who fired a great score of 3149-152. This included a personal best on Sunday of 1579-89X. Way to go Luke!

In the class awards Peter Church of Dearborne, MI. won the Master Class with a 3192-233X narrowly edging out Raton, NM's Barry Smith by a mere 13X's! In the Expert class things were a little easier for Casa Grande, AZ. resident James Cobb. Jim put together a pair of 1594's to dominate the class with his 3188-193X. I think it's safe to say Jim will be getting a new classification card soon, much to the relief of his fellow Experts I might add! Fellow Phoenician Mick Walker prevailed over the combined Marksman/Sharpshooter class with his 3169-189X aggregate. Pictures of this inaugual event can be found here for Day one;

Next up here in Phoenix will be the largest smallbore match west of the Mississippi, the Western Wildcat Smallbore Prone Championships. Entry information as well as the match program can be found here; http://phoenixrodandgun.org/Divisions/Smallbore/2011%20March%2014-20%20Wildcat%20program%202011.pdf

Hope to see some new faces at this storied event!
